I'm trading academics for other things. I don't want to become that person, I want to maintain my academics because I know it's the right thing to do. Fuck these Pass-Fail systems, if I don't learn my stuff I won't do well on the MCCQEs/USMLEs/clerkship.

I don't want to turn into Dr. Zakus, someone who flies everywhere and leads this seemingly cosmopolitan life but has almost no academic grounding. Someone who takes whatever opportunities are presented but doesn't have their own road envisioned clearly in their head. If "free travel" is my only motivation for going places, as it seems like it's becoming, I need to seriously ask myself why I am doing this in the first place and what I hope to achieve out of it in the long run. Apparently it is easy to get people to pay you to travel. It's not so easy to think critically, to evaluate where you are, to escape the glitz and glam of the word "international" and really focus on what I want to become.
